Multi-Court Voice Case Information System (McVCIS)

The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama announces availability of its public information system - Multi-Court Voice Case Information System. McVCIS is based on real time text to speech engines and is accessible through toll free access. The system offers search capabilities using name, case number, social security number or tax identification number.

How Do I Use It?

To access McVCIS, simply dial the toll free number (866) 222-8029. McVCIS will instruct you on how to use the keys of your telephone to search for cases. McVCIS allows five debtor inquiries per case, however, it will provide information about all cases involving that debtor. NOTE: The system will instruct you to use the "1" key for the letters "Q" and "Z". For more information, click HERE.

McVCIS Features?

McVCIS allows you access from any touch tone telephone. The system provides the following information about the case:

  • debtor(s)' names(s)
  • case number
  • judge name
  • tax identification number
  • date the case was opened
  • voluntary or involuntary case filing
  • business or consumer
  • date of filing
  • chapter
  • attorney name and telephone
  • date and time of the pleading § 341 meeting
  • date of discharge
  • date of closing
  • date and time of the first meeting
  • asset status
  • general case status

What Do I Need?

All you need is a touch tone phone and either debtor name(s), case number, social security number, or tax identification number. Once the system verifies input, case information will be provided by McVCIS.

Service Availability?

McVCIS is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, except when the system is undergoing maintenance.

Is There a Fee?

The information provided through McVCIS is currently FREE of charge. However, a user fee approved by the Judicial Conference of the United States may be applied at some point in the future.
